NES Development
NESDev is the term for writing software for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. I became vaguely interested in NESDev in the 2000s via content in my RSS feeds. But it wasn’t until the Assembly Line Podcast in the late 2010s that it was something I pursued. And in 2026, I went to my first Midwest Gaming Classic convention and got to experience some of the community in person.
There are several games I am making or want to make. It’s folly to list them, but they are:
- A Coverage Game whose narrative blurs the line between where the game ends and reality begins.
- A fishing game which uses a novel method for a distributed online leaderboard.
- A multiplayer task management game which might be the only idea that’s actually fun to play.
